Supplements for Your Shakes!

Lately, I have upped my green shake game.  I really notice a difference on the days I drink one vs the days I don't.  I have been trying to get in one a day, but lets be honest: I have two kids, a job and a husband in school.  Some days it just doesn't happen for me.  On the days that I succeed - these are the supplements I like to add.  I don't always put all of them in - I usually rotate them.  If you're feeling brave then you can try all of them at once!

Maca Powder
Maca is a root that is an adaptogen, which means that it normalizes your body so that it can help itself and respond as it should. Maca is supposed to help with energy, balancing hormones, boosting your immune system AND is a natural antioxidant.  Maca has a ridiculous amount of amino acids and vitamins.  This is a breakdown found on www.draxe.com:
“Maca root powder is comprised of approximately 18% protein, 76.5% carbohydrates, 5% fat, and 8.5% fiber (indigestible carbohydrates). Maca provides a powerful source of nutrition, including:
Over 20 amino acids, including 8 essential amino acids
20 free-form fatty acids (such as lauric, linolenic, palmitic acid, oleic , and steric acid)
   Vitamins B-1, B-2, C and E
Maca is also a rich source of phytonutrients.”
Uh, yes please!

So sorry about this one – I ran out so I don’t have a picture of this one.  You can see it here.  This is another superstar in the supplement world.  It is thought to lower cholesterol, blood sugar and inflammation.  It is also full of vitamins B, C and A, iron, magnesium and iron.

Diatomaceous Earth:
Basically, this is edible dirt.  It is mostly comprised of silica which is a mineral that our body needs for bones, cartilage, tendons and vessels.  It also helps to clean you out internally as it pulls out harmful invaders and organisms and also heavy metals out of your body.

This is a new one for us, but I am expecting big things from this little green powder. It is supposed to help lower cholesterol, blood pressure, chances of a stroke, boost weight loss, help with sinus problems, pull out heavy metals, kick candida in the pants, and help prevent cancer.  What is not to like?!

So, if you combine the super powers of these supplements with an already nutrient rich green shake, it's basically the equivalent of being bitten by a radioactive spider - amiright?!
